{The Path} My Poetry

I used to write ALL. THE. TIME. when I was younger. I loved it. I haven't really written much since my mom passed in September of 2002. I've been published in two publications for poems that I wrote in High School. I even had friends ask for a copy of my fave piece {Ode to a Rose}. Being a true artist through and through, I even drew pictures to go with all my poems!

Funny how things suddenly appear - when you least expect them. I just finished photographing a gorgeous baby boy (don't worry, a teaser from today's session will be posted below) and walked downstairs to love on my babies. As I was walking toward my son, who was running toward me, I saw a piece of notebook paper, turned over. We don't have notebook paper in my house so I bent down to pick it up and it's a poem I had written in 2002, only 2 short months after I lost my mother. This is the LAST poem I remember writing.

I just turned 20 years old; My Mom 42. I lost my best friend. I felt so alone. I was so unsure of who I was and my heart hurt. I sat down on my bed and just started writing. This is what came out that dreary afternoon.

THE PATH

Walking along a peaceful path
To a new, breath-taking embrace,
Taking in life with every breath
Making the world a better place.

As opportunities gracefully arise
As a risk is always at hand,
I reach for that shooting star
Pursuing that unthinkable dream
Trying SO HARD not to leave anything or anyone behind.

I'm becoming my own woman
Working every complication into a solution
Making every moment as bright as yellow daisies
Finding TRUE LOVE.

I walk alone, along my peaceful path
In search of that perfect being
Approaching a view of a woman
Breath-taking. Sensible. Unique.

And as she gets clearer to where I can really see,
I realize that woman I'm looking at is me.

One of my 101 in 1001 is to write my children a poem (#64). Hopefully I can pick up a pen and write something for them. I'm just not sure if I'm ready quite yet....

So the suspense is no longer (except for Michele and Robert who will patiently be waiting to see 47 more images of their little man), here's Matthew! He is 6 months old and has one of the most beautiful souls. I can't wait to tell you more about him in a few weeks and share even more photos of him!

{Smash Cake 1st Birthday} | Columbus Baby Photographer

I was so excited when Sandra booked Claire's photo shoot weeks ago. I jump at the chance to photograph babies as they are so precious! And this wasn't just any photo shoot, it was a very special smash-cake birthday session! Baby Claire came to my studio in her holiday PJ's which matched my decor perfectly! Even though she was a tad bit shy at first, she got used to my camera and me talking to her about everything you would talk to an 11 month old about, haha, and started having fun. After the pj's she changed into a few more outfits and ended in a pink tutu! She wasn't too fond of the cake and made some priceless expressions. She's just too cute for words, let me tell you. (I'll be adding some special smash cake images to this blog entry soon)

To the P Family - It was such a pleasure meeting you and spending time with your beautiful Claire. I can't wait to hear how she reacts to her cake at her first birthday party! Thank you for choosing me to photograph such a special event and memory in your lives.

Now onto the teaser!

{2009 Holiday Special} / Columbus Family Photographer

I was so excited to meet Stephanie, her husband and three children today. They came to my studio to snap some holiday photos of the kids and boy did I have my work cut out for me with little man! Kyle is 2 years old and full of energy! I didn't think I'd get any good shots of him in because he was constantly on the go, but sure enough I got him good ;). Kayla is 6 and very quiet...at first. I tried talking to her about anything and everything but after about 15 minutes she warmed right up and took some beautiful photos. And finally baby Kaitlyn. She is only 3 weeks younger than my baby girl and she is just as precious as can be. Big, bright beautiful eyes. Just wait until you see my FAVE photo of her....she's gorgeous.

{Baby Tori} / Holiday Special

I first met Tori when she was only 9 months old. You may remember her session at Homestead Park back in September. I had the pleasure of snapping her holiday photos, and some other fun ones as well, in my home studio.

Tori is almost 12 months old and is as cute as a button! She is saying "Momma" "Dadda" "Hello" and was so patient during her photo shoot. She had a lot of fun and her mommy and daddy were even on board for Tori to be my model for a very special photo shoot that I'll be offering come the first of the year. So yes, you will see more of Tori soon enough!

Let's get to her teaser! It was so difficult to choose, but I somehow managed to come up with 8 of my faves.

{Round Two - Hayley and Chelsey} / Columbus Newborn Photographer

These beautiful girls don't need an introduction! I saw them one short week ago and they have changed so much already. I can resist sharing all of my FAVES with you...I couldn't choose :) These photos were the very FIRST to be taken in my studio.

{Baby Love} Columbus Newborn Photographer

I'm so excited to announce the birth of twin girls, Hayley and Chelsey! I've been waiting to photograph these beautiful babies for some time now and am so honored that Cara and Eric chose me as their photographer. I also met big sister Lyla, who is such a little doll baby. Full of personality and beauty. She is going to be a fantastic big sis!! Enjoy the sneak peak of round one. Oh yes, the twins are coming over to my home studio to take more pics (hopefully together this time, haha).
