Bridgett walked into my studio for the first time, smiling from ear to ear. She was super excited and anxious for her photo shoot to begin! In a bright yellow sweater and jeans, Bridgett was beaming! Her energy was contagious. Bridgett was carrying two very large gift bags with her and handed them to me. For me? I asked.
A few months prior, Bridgett had emailed me asking when Carson J and Amilya Rae's birth dates were. Why? I asked curiously. "Because I made something for the babies!" She said.
Bridgett is one of the most kind, beautiful, patient, funny and amazing women in this world and I have the pleasure of knowing and calling her a friend. She has been through hell and back and has come out a stronger person because of it all. She is constantly thinking of others first and doing whatever it takes to make them a priority. Or just make them smile. At the Pretty in Pink event, she definitely made me smile!
I opened the gifts and there were two beautiful, handmade blankets inside. One for Carson and one for Millie. Their names and birth dates were stitched onto a solid red and pink side. The other side, full of sports balls and ladybugs. Wow! I was speechless and so very thankful. She had taken time out of her busy schedule to not only make my children blankets - she made them custom and special to compliment their personalities. I still want to cry just thinking about how my life has been touched by so many amazing people. Bridgett is one of them.
To Bridgett - you seriously blew me away with your thoughtfulness and sincerity. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for the blankets (which my children both use daily and have become their faves) and for being such an amazing person. If I could commission an award for the most outstanding woman - it would go to you! You are awesome!
I don't think I made an official announcement regarding my photography business. It's no longer a hobby for me, it's my career! I'm so excited for 2010 and all the amazing things that will happen.
I've had the pleasure of photographing every possible category in portrait photography and even though I loved it all, there was one photo shoot inparticular that I fell in-love with. Shortly after my first round of boudoir photography, I felt immediately happy when hearing the reviews. And then it happened again when I received a text message on Christmas Day saying, " He LOVES his little black book. Thank you!" I knew then that if I could make women of all ages feel beautiful and self-confident in their own skin, that I would feel blessed in helping her realize that she is in fact, B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L!
This launched the Pretty in Pink event, which I can happily say was a huge success, and the wheels started turning. What other events could I create, that many people don't think about documenting, but would LOVE to, as well as make the girl, pre-teen, teenager and woman feel beautiful and special...because she IS beautiful and special?
I put out a post about needing models on facebook and that has taken off like wildfire. I'm so very excited to work with all of you who signed up and for those of you who I am meeting with these next 3 weeks. I have so many special things planned and with any luck, you'll fall in-love with my new photography series. Be on the lookout for the first shoot, scheduled with Alison on March 20th!
Now onto some more photos from the Pretty in Pink Event! Paige, whom I've known since we were itty bitty, has really been an amazing asset to my company. Not only is she an amazing friend, she signed up without any hesitation, to be my business representative, to help spread the word about my photography. She gets free photo shoots, crazy good discounts on anything she wants to order and she gets paid if anyone books a session and hands me one of her referral cards. Nice!!! Thank you Paige! You know how much I love you as a long-time, most dearest friend. I can't wait to work with you.

I’m so thrilled that the “Pretty in Pink” Photography event was such a huge success! When dreaming up the launch of the new direction of my photography business, I had a glimmer of thought about how I was going to get it all started. I just knew there was going to be make-up involved and of course the photography, as that goes without saying, but how could I make THAT fun? Pop in a girly movie, serve sparkling grape soda, offer candy and gourmet desserts and book actual “parties” and waala! My dream was alive! I had 11 fabulous girls sign up and I immediately started thinking of step 2. I’ll talk about that in a future post…
I’ve introduced you to Miss Katie and her big sister Leanne just recently. This next woman you’ve already met! I was so honored to have Elizabeth and her colleague Doug at my home studio for headshots. You can see their photos here.
Elizabeth and I met back in High School. I graduated with her sister Bridgett (you’ll get to meet her soon) and we were all really into agriculture and FFA. That only lasted maybe a year for me, but these two sisters were really involved and were fantastic! One memory I have of Elizabeth was when she was a teenager. She was experimenting with her make-up and I noticed that she had used an eyebrow pen to fill in her brows. She looked so pretty! But of course being the shy girl I was, I never told her. So Elizabeth, if you read this, I thought you looked SO pretty that day!
Several years later (I hate to think about just how much time has passed, haha) I got to spend time with Elizabeth and I think she is such an amazing woman, strong-willed, good-hearted and full of laughter! Her laughter is contagious.

These last 8 months I've had the pleasure of photographing newborns, toddlers, children, families, weddings, engagements, professional headshots, high school seniors and intimate boudoir. Out of every category, I found a true passion in witnessing the love between a couple on their wedding day, capturing a brand new baby's innocence and seeing a woman's sexy, flirty and playful demenor when she is without a doubt, in love. What a blessing to be present for those moments and document them through my eyes!
I especially loved the feedback given to me after my very first Boudoir Marathon Event. The girls told me that they had such a fantastic experience and that I made them feel beautiful. Within minutes they warmed up to me and my camera and had a crazy-good time posing for what would be an amazing present for their partners. What they didn't expect was that huge boost of confidence they got AFTER the shoot and all the anticipation that arose from waiting to see their images! And then when I thought it couldn't get ANY better - I receive a text message from Miss H Christmas Morning "OMG HE LOVED HIS LITTLE BLACK BOOK". She even documented his face (the expressions were priceless) while opening his very special Christmas gift. It was in that moment that I decided what direction I wanted to take my photography in...making girls of ALL ages, feel absolutely beautiful, amazing and special. Heck, who wouldn't want to feel that way?! And that is my mission for 2010. I'm going to be accepting only a few family sessions this year to really focus on these special photo shoots. The kind that make you all giddy inside! (Yes, I did just say giddy). LOL And of course Weddings. I have so much in store for my Brides and Grooms this year!
First up - the Pretty in Pink Party this past Sunday. What a way to kick off the brand new year!!! My goal for this event was to give my clients a professional make-over by having Melissa (a fabulous make-up artist) come over and do their make-up, as well as give them a fabulous background to relax, kick off their shoes and have fun in front of my camera. This day was all about being a girly girl! I had 11 girly girls in front of my camera at the event and I must say, they were all so beautiful. I hope by spoiling them with champagne, sparkling grape juice, candy, bubble gum and delicious desserts from Mozart's Bakery, they had an amazing time and felt "beautiful" in the time they spent with me. And I hope that feeling continued long after they left my home studio...
Miss Katie was my first client of the day and also my youngest! She is 4 years old and has such a fun, playful personality. She is a cheerleader and absolutely loves it! She told me she is into zebra stripes and that her favorite color is pink (I know - too cute, right?). She was so sweet and I absolutely loved being in her presence. She seemed a little hesitant with me at first, like "Who is this girl and why does she have a camera?!" kinda way so I asked her if I could take her picture. She agreed and from that point on, seemed to have a really fun time! She is so precious...don't you just get lost in those big beautiful eyes of hers?

It just so happens that Katie has a big sister, Leanne! They truly love each other and I loved interacting with them.
